Chopped liver gets a bad rap. Believe it or not there are lots of people who think it's absolutely delightful. Not so, my sister-in-law. According to Gail, my failing to ask her and my brother, Frankie, plus other Batsons to our annual family reunion in the mountains had everything to do with that deli meat and their resemblance to said occasionally coveted, but more often than not, maligned, piece of offal than the fact that they have, in fact, never, ever been invited to the annual family reunions we've had in the past ten years we've been visiting the mountains. Gail never even knew about these trips before. Then, I made the mistake of sending my latest mountains trip blog … [Read more...] about Chopped liver and Black Mountain Day 5
Black Mt. and The Blue Ridge Mts. I didn't write for two days because The Krajniks and The Poutases went hiking yesterday, and it rained all day the day before so nothing overtly crazy happened. I'm sorry: all the Poutases went hiking but me. I don't do hiking. Instead, I stayed in bed until 4:00 p.m. Okay, I admit it, I'm a bad daughter and grandmother because: Dad was home as was the Masters family and I could have spent time with him or my grandchildren and didn't. Let the flogging begin In my defense, during the rain day, I spent plenty of time with all three, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. 'Iah and Eliza are a delight and Dad is always fun … [Read more...] about Black Mountain Cabin Day 4
In my Happy 5th of July!, post, I put in a picture of Tsuki in which, I thought at the time, there was a bird on her back. I even commented on it, and said that Margie apparently even did bird-sitting. It was, in reality, a four-pound dog. A friend of mine (and later, Margie), alerted me to the error of my ways. My friend sent me the "laughing so hard I'm crying" emoji. Nice. In my defense: I was given the picture via text on my iPhone 8, and it's a small phone I blog on my phone, so I saw a small picture I blog in the dark, usually between the hours of midnight and 5:00 a.m., and, no, I don't know why those hours sometimes I get loopy in the wee … [Read more...] about Black Mountain Cabin Day 1
I don't know what a picture of Tsuki with a bird on her back has to do with anything, but I got it from the dog sitter today and thought it was funny, sooo... Of course, now Margie and her daughters, the dog sitters at My Other Mommy, Inc want a plug for their business since I mentioned them the other day, so here you go cuz I love ya, Margie. So if you're ever going to be in South Florida and need a dog, cat, or, apparently, bird sitter, look them up. I, myself, was feeling very verklempt earlier. We're leaving tomorrow morning, bound for NC, so naturally I had to get my nails done. One can't face one's family with raggedy-ass nails or bad hair, everyone who's … [Read more...] about Happy 5th of July!
Today we went to Universal Studios proper. I didn't write anything yesterday, because: It was a "lay by the pool" day for me to try and get rid of my vampirishly white legs, so how boring is that? And: I was just too damned tired after two full nights spent obsessively writing in this blog instead of doing what a sensible (sane) person would do and going to sleep at a reasonable hour. Then: Getting three hours of sleep, and then dutifully getting my body out of bed in the morning to go do stuff with John so he wouldn't be bored. He was bored yesterday anyway. He's not a lay by the pool kinda guy. We did go to City Walk for dinner at Emeril's, and that was nice. This … [Read more...] about Universal Studios – Day 4
Day two of our escape from reality, and we went to Islands of Adventure. As you know, John and I took a small vacation before we go to Black Mountain, NC to have our annual family reunion, which is gonna be all kinds of crazy. Today we were kids again. For those of you who don't know, Islands of Adventure is the part of Universal Studios that has all the cool rides. By staying at a Universal Studios hotel, we were given Express Passes, thereby allowing us to go to the head of the line on most rides. So, while the unwashed masses were waiting in long lines in the heat, we were allowed to go into a different, shorter, line and were sometimes in and out within 10 minutes. Cool. … [Read more...] about Islands of Adventure -Day 2
